Police Blotter is a sampling of crimes from police reports in Baltimore and Baltimore County.



Arrest -- Marco Smoot, 28, of the 300 block of S. Pulaski St., was arrested about 5 a.m. Monday at a motel in the 100 block of W. North Ave. by members of the Regional Warrant Apprehension Task Force on a warrant charging him with first-degree murder. Smoot is accused of shooting Lacy Hazel, 44, of the 800 block of W. Pratt St. on Aug. 28 in the 400 block of S. Payson St. He was being held without bail at Central Booking and Intake Center.


Arrest -- Police arrested George Scruggs, 34, yesterday in a house in the 2500 block of Gehb Ave. on a warrant charging him with first-degree murder. Scruggs, a resident of the 3100 block of Artaban Place in West Baltimore, is accused of shooting Darnell Thomas, 23, on Aug. 29.


Robbery -- A man, 36, was walking in an alley in the 2400 block of Presbury St. about 1 a.m. Monday when he was stopped by a younger male riding a bike who asked for the time. After the man complied, the cyclist assaulted him and robbed him of a backpack that contained a laptop computer valued at $742.

Burglary -- Someone broke into a house in the 200 block of N. Amity St. between Friday and Monday and stole power tools, hand tools, a level, clamps, a radio and a pair of reading glasses - all valued at nearly $400.


Robbery -- Police were seeking four young males, one armed with a handgun, who robbed a male, 18, of $80 in the first block of S. President St. about 9 p.m. Monday.

Theft -- Police were seeking a young, red-haired female known as "Brock" who is accused of stealing a jar containing $100 in cash and coins that had been donated to a charity from a store in the 500 block of S. Macon St. about 3 p.m. Saturday.

Baltimore County

White Marsh

Robbery -- Two men, one with a handgun, robbed a 7-Eleven in the 9600 block of Belair Road of cigarettes and an undisclosed sum of money about midnight Monday.

North Point

Robbery -- A man, 48, was walking across a parking lot in the 5100 block of North Point Blvd. about 5 a.m. Friday when two men, one armed with an unknown weapon, robbed him of $8.


Kidnapping -- Police were seeking three males, one armed with a handgun, who forced their way into a 1997 Dodge Caravan driven by 26-year-old woman when she stopped in the 1400 block of Brian Daniel Court about 3 a.m. Saturday, They ordered the woman to drive. Moments later, the car stopped at a shopping center in Reisterstown and the unharmed woman was forced out. Hours later, the van was found abandoned in Baltimore.


Burglary -- Ten fur coats, coins and boots - all valued at $2,400 - were stolen between Sept. 18 and Monday from a storage area at Raya's Beauty Salon in the 100 block of Slade Ave.
