Chamber to hold procurement fair

The Baltimore-Washington Corridor Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual Baltimore Washington Regional Government Procurement Fair at 8 a.m. Tuesday at the Greenbelt Marriott, 6400 Ivy Lane in Greenbelt.

The event allows businesspeople to meet procurement officials from approximately 50 government agencies.

Online and telephone registration is required by noon tomorrow.

The registration fee is $55 for members, $70 for nonmembers by today; $95 tomorrow and at the door.

RiverWest plans marketing seminar

RiverWest Marketing, 647 Ridgely Ave., Annapolis, will hold a free seminar, "Prospecting in Today's Market," from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Thursday.

The seminar will provide information on finding the right client.

Breakfast to focus on networking

The Baltimore-Washington Corridor Chamber of Commerce and several Anne Arundel County chambers of commerce will host a networking breakfast at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday at Crofton Country Club, 1691 Crofton Parkway.

Participants will take part in four rounds of 90-second speed presentations to meet other business professionals and introduce their business.

The cost is $20 for prepaid members; $40 for members and nonmembers at the door.

GOP committee plans social hour

The Republican State Central Committee of Anne Arundel County will sponsor a Pro-Business Social Hour at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

The social is for area business leaders to meet and greet their Republican legislators.

Tickets are $50 and include hors d'oeuvres, desserts, coffee and an open bar.

Data management to be discussed

Mavenspire, HP, Invu, Novell and Compellent will sponsor a panel discussion, "eRace: Your Data Jockeying for Position," on the importance of strong data management, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday in the Carriage Room at Laurel Park racetrack.

The panel will discuss steps to increase efficiency and control expenses.

TasteBuds benefits city floral displays

The Annapolis Business Association and the city of Annapolis will present the eighth annual TasteBuds, a culinary event to raise funds for the hanging flower baskets and container gardens that adorn downtown, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Oct. 30 at the Westin Annapolis Hotel, 100 Westgate Circle.

The event will feature a live and silent auction, live music and a martini bar.

Nonprofit teams up with Pizza Hut

Opportunity Builders Inc. has teamed up with Pizza Hut of Maryland Inc. to have the nonprofit agency's clients help with marketing efforts for six restaurants in Anne Arundel County.

Since July, OBI, which offers job training and opportunities to people with developmental disabilities, has had teams distribute up to 500 door hangers, magnets and coupons in the residential areas near Pizza Huts in Pasadena, Severn, Glen Burnie, Severna Park, Crofton and Cape St. Claire. Some clients may get training in store operations, including cleaning, food preparation and taking orders.

Severn Savings gets perfect score

Severn Savings Bank has received a perfect score for financial condition and stability from IDC Financial Publishing. IDC collects data and ranks quality for banks, bank holding companies, thrifts and credit unions.

The bank's score of 300 was based on second-quarter information.

Women's group wins Star Award

The Maryland Capital Chapter of the America Business Women Association has won the Star Award from the National ABWA.

The awards are based on 14 criteria set by the National ABWA.

The chapter has won the Star Award 13 times in 37 years.

Crosby Marketing wins 4 awards

Crosby Marketing Communications has won four Thoth awards from the Washington chapter of the Public Relations Society of America.

Crosby won first-place awards in the categories of Public Service Announcements--Television and Research and Evaluation. and certificates of excellence in the categories of Reputation/Brand Management Direct Mail.
