Video games score at Ottobar

The lowdown -- Put on your game faces and head to the Ottobar on Tuesday for a night of free movies and video game competition. Featured movies will be The Wizard, a 1989 film about kids who try to win a video game championship, and Fistful of Quarters: The King of Kong, a documentary about breaking the Donkey Kong high score. There will also be a competition of the 1980s game Galaga.

Folk music

The lowdown -- "Round the Mountain: Acoustic Roots" makes its way to the Creative Alliance at the Patterson on Saturday. Caleb Stine performs classic American folk music, Ken Kolodner plays Appalachian music on the fiddle, Arty Hill yodels country, and Jim Eagon plays Celtic music with an American twist.

Art at Sidebar

The lowdown -- Hit the Sidebar Tavern tomorrow for a gala art opening. On display will be sculptures, paintings, drawings, photography and fashion from 10 local artists and designers. There will also be a midnight skating performance by Laura Friedman.
