Terps just one stop for wrecking train

TRACKING THE TERPS

The Kickoff

October 16, 2007|By HEATHER A. DINICH

This is interesting.

Syracuse coach Greg Robinson is following in the footsteps of Maryland coach Ralph Friedgen and submitting game film of what he thought to be a vicious hit on his quarterback.

And yes, Rutgers defensive back Joe Lefeged was the same player who gave Maryland quarterback Jordan Steffy the second concussion of his career and knocked him out until who-knows-when. The Atlantic Coast Conference later deemed it to be an illegal helmet-to-helmet hit.

Coincidence?

There were also rumors floating around that Rutgers was going after Cincinnati quarterback Ben Mauk (Wake Forest transfer), but I spoke with their sports information director who said there was no videotape submitted on his behalf, and Mauk didn't say anything after the game about it.

Maybe that's because he got hit so hard he forgot it even happened.

Check out the feature I've added to the blog ... it's called a "blogroll." You'll find it on the right side of the blog.

It's a lengthy list of Web sites pertinent to the Terps, the ACC and national sports coverage. Hopefully you'll find some of them or all of them useful. There should be at least one newspaper link for coverage of every ACC team, so if the Terps are playing, say, Virginia, you can click on a Virginia paper to see what's going on with the Cavaliers.

Enjoy!
