Games To Watch

October 14, 2007|By JEFF SEIDEL

GIRLS SOCCER

No. 1 Arch. Spalding @ No. 2 John Carroll

WHEN -- Tuesday, 4 p.m.

OUTLOOK -- The Patriots lost to Spalding in last year's Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland A Conference semifinals, and the Cavaliers went on to win the title. Jenna Quaranta leads John Carroll with nine goals and six assists, and the Patriots will have to contain Spalding's attack and use their counter-attacking style to create some scoring chances.

FIELD HOCKEY

UCBAC Championship

WHEN -- Thursday, 3 p.m.

WHERE -- C. Milton Wright

OUTLOOK -- Bel Air has secured a spot in the Upper Chesapeake Bay Athletic Conference title game, and will play either Rising Sun or Fallston. Rising Sun and Fallston were tied for first in the Chesapeake Division at mid-week with 4-1 conference records. Bel Air won the Susquehanna Division.

CROSS COUNTRY

UCBAC Division championships

WHEN -- Thursday, 3 p.m.

WHERE -- Jerusalem Mill and Canal House

OUTLOOK -- The Chesapeake Division meet will be run at Jerusalem Mill, while the Susquehanna Division, which has more Cecil County schools, will run its meet at Canal House in that county. C. Milton Wright and Bel Air are Harford County's top two teams.

FOOTBALL

North Harford @ Aberdeen

WHEN -- Thursday, 7 p.m.

OUTLOOK -- Can the stingy Aberdeen defense handle the North Harford offense? Hawks senior quarterback Dan Griffin has evolved into a solid player, and North Harford (4-1) runs as effectively as it passes. Even though Aberdeen (2-3) had a tough time in its 34-8 loss to Joppatowne, the Eagles have a good group on defense that's slowed most opponents.
