Edward P. Majka, 63, of Dillsburg, PA, died on Oct. 9, 2007, at the home of his daughter after a courageous 2 M-BM-= yr. battle with lung cancer. Born Feb. 27, 1944, in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of Edward B. and Rose E. (Baumer) Majka. He was a 1963 graduate of Calvert Hall College and graduated from Loyola College, Baltimore in 1973, with a degree in Business Administration. Ed was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church, New Cumberland, PA. He was a former member of St. Edward Epiphany, Bon Air, VA, and Our Lady of Fatima Church, in Baltimore, MD, where he was a church cantor and was active in the choir and volunteered in the Social Justice Program, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, a Weblo Leader and camping trips. Ed was employed with Bethlehem Steel for 39 years in Baltimore, Richmond, VA and Steelton, PA. He was the Superintendent of two Rebar Shops. He was also the Superintendent of the Richmond, VA Plant and the Superintendent and Supervisor of the Pipe Mill in Steelton, PA. He retired from Bethlehem Steel in 2002. He was currently employed by Harrisburg Auto Auction, Mechanicsburg, PA. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, computers, cooking, baking, gardening, canning and sharing his produce with family and friends. He was known for his energy, sense of humor, financial wisdom, perseverance, common sense and loyalty. He will be most remembered for his great love and friendship, especially toward his wife, children and grandchildren. He was a good friend, relative and neighbor. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He was a role model to many and showed us not only how to live well, but how to die well - a precious legacy. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Sharon E. (Bramble) Majka, a son Edward P. Majka, Jr. of Baltimore, MD, and a daughter Lisa M. Billet and her fiancM-CM-) Barry A. Withjack of Etters, PA. He was preceded in death by a daughter Beth A. Majka of Baltimore, MD. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Samantha, Katie and Mikel. In addition, he is survived by two sisters, Mary Ann Reed and husband John and Doris Rasel and husband Ed, all of Baltimore, MD. There are also many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. Many thanks are extended to Hospice of Central PA, especially The Lady Bug Team, for their tender, compassionate and respectful care. Thanks also to Dr. Robert Gordon and the staff and nurses at Andrews & Patel Associates, especially Marsha and Melissa. We welcome and invite everyone touched by Ed to share in the celebration of his life which will take place at the church with the reception immediately following. Ed requested that attire should be casual. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 PM, Saturday Oct. 13, 2007, at St. Theresa Church. Reverend Michael J. McFadden will be the celebrant. Visitation will be held from 11-12:30 PM, Saturday Oct. 13, 2007, at Parthemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, New Cumberland, PA. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, beside his daughter Beth, in Baltimore, MD. Please OMIT flowers, per Ed's wishes.
