JESSIE L. STEWART, 87, formerly of Pocomoke City, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 27, 2007. Born May 23, 1920 in Crisfield, MD, she was a daughter of the late Edward James and Ida Smullen Lambden. She was an active member of Pitts Creek Presbyterian Church in Pocomoke City prior to moving to Silver Spring. Jessie always had a passion for and was involved in youth outreach. She volunteered with many organizations, including the Samaritan Shelter, the Salvation Army, Head Start and was an Ombudsman at Hartley Hall Nursing Home in Pocomoke City. Completing her desire to help others, she donated her body to the Anatomy Board of Maryland for medical research. Jessie began her civil service career in 1952 working as an accountant for the Department of the Navy at Cherry Point Marine Air Station. In 1955, she worked for the Air Research Development and Command in Baltimore, the Department of the Army and the Veterans Administration at the Ft. Howard Veterans Administration Hospital. She ended her career working for the United States Public Health Service Hospital as an Equal Opportunity Employment Specialist in 1980. Her survivors, include one daughter Kaye "Earlene" Stewart and one son, Jon L Stewart, both of Silver Spring, MD, one cousin (who was like a sister) Maria Nunez Kaniecki, of Baltimore MD, one brother, Robert Lambden of Salisbury, one sister, Mary Lou Core of Greensboro, NC and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents were a sister, Corlene Hedeman, a brother Julius "Jukie" Lambden, and her aunt Laura Lambden Nunez. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held 1:00pm, Saturday, October 13, 2007 at the Pitts Creek Presbyterian Church, 210 Market Street, Pocomoke City, MD 21851, officiated by the Rev.
