The lowdown -- See Gogol Bordello, a gypsy punk band from New York City known for its theatrical and costumed stage shows, perform Tuesday at Sonar Lounge. Gogol Bordello's unique style incorporates instruments, including an accordion and a fiddle, with cabaret, punk and rock music and multiple languages.

Isbell sans Truckers

The lowdown -- Jason Isbell, formerly of the Drive by Truckers, set out without his former band to create his solo debut, Sirens Of The Ditch. He's performing at Fletchers on Sunday along with the Whigs.

Mexican comedy

The lowdown -- See free Mexican slapstick comedy Saturday at the Creative Alliance's Viva El Cine Latino event. Screenings will include works by physical comedians Cantinflas and Roberto Gomez Bolanos, such as the popular Mexican sitcom El Chavo del Ocho.
