WALTER L. MOORE , ,age 57, died suddenly at his home in the Horserock subdivision of Westernport, MD on October 3, 2007. Walter was preceded in death only two weeks earlier by his mother with whom he resided. Walter, who was formerly from Ellicott City, MD., was also preceded in death by his father, Victor J Moore, and his best friend Bill Dulaney. Walter was a devoted Christian and a member of St. Peter's Church. When his good friend Bill was dying with cancer, Walter begged for God to take him instead and to keep Bill here with his wife Kathleen to raise their 5 children. There is no truer love then laying ones life down for a friend. He fell in love with the mountains of Western Md. while attending and graduating from Frostburg State College. He returned to Baltimore and after various jobs, worked for Social Security until he retired in 2004. He returned to Allegany County and shared a house with his elderly mother in April of 2004. He loved the deer and wild turkey roaming around his house. He was a big movie buff as well as liking the big band music and Bing Crosby. His favorite seasons were Halloween through New Years. He loved to decorate his house and take rides to see all the area houses. His favorite Mass was the Easter Vigil. He belonged to a monarchy organization. He was a kind and gentle soul who always had a hello and God Bless you, and "may the force be with you" for everyone he met. Walter is survived by his sister Mary Jane Gulck and husband John of Westernport; brother John V. Moore and wife Elvi, of Disputanta VA; and youngest brother Michael Moore and wife Val, Baltimore, MD. His is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Annette McKenzie, Melissa Moore, Kellee Smith, Victor & Perry Moore, Christopher Moore and John Gulck, Jr. He also has two great nephews Coty McKenzie and Chandler Gulck, and Great Niece, Megan Moore, and a Godson, Henry Dulaney. A Mass of Christian burial will take place at St Peter's Catholic Church, Westernport, MD 21562, Thursday October 11, 2007 at 11AM with Father Jim Hannon as celebrant. The family will receive friends at the church at 10:30 A.M. A second Mass will be celebrated at The Church of the Resurrection in Ellicott City, MD. on Friday October 12, 2007 at 11:00 A.M with Monsignor James McGovern as celebrant. Friends will be received at the Church at 10:30. Walter will be laid to rest at Crestlawn Memorial Gardens, 2150 Mount View Rd, Marriottsville, MD. The family asks that memorials be sent to St. Peter's Catholic Church, 127 Church St., Westernport, MD 21562. Fredlock Funeral Home in Piedmont WV is in charge of the arrangements.
