An Annapolis teenager severed his girlfriend's father's ear after attacking him with a broken bottle in an argument, city police said yesterday.

Katore Morsell, 16, of the 1300 block of Tyler Ave. was charged as an adult with first-degree assault and related offenses after the fight that broke out before 5 a.m. Saturday, police said.

The victim told police that Morsell struck him in the head with a bottle several times until it broke after he and Morsell began arguing on Tyler Avenue. The boy stabbed the man in the forearm with the broken end of the bottle, and a portion of the victim's ear was torn off in the attack, police said.

Morsell was being held at the Jennifer Road Detention Center in lieu of $250,000 bond.
