Games To Watch

October 07, 2007|By JEFF SEIDEL

County Championship

WHEN -- Thursday, 11 a.m.

WHERE -- Geneva Farm Golf Club

OUTLOOK -- C. Milton Wright will look to defend its county crown. North Harford took second in the Upper Chesapeake Bay Athletic Conference/District VII tournament last month. Liz Silbernagle of Fallston was the girls medalist, while C. Milton Wright's Matt Fry won that honor for the boys.

Bel Air @ Edgewood

WHEN -- Friday, 7 p.m.

OUTLOOK -- Bel Air began the season at 3-1, already matching its win total from last year (3-7). Bobcats coach Tony Belcastro's team again got a big performance from QB Mitch Poole (two touchdown runs) to pull out a 13-7 win over Fallston nine days ago. Edgewood (2-2) won two straight after losing two in a row to start the season, getting more punch from its running game and better work on defense.

Fallston @ Joppatowne

WHEN -- Friday, 7 p.m.

OUTLOOK -- Joppatowne has won three in a row after a tough opening-game loss at North Carroll. The Mariners rely heavily on QB C.J. Townes, but got a good effort from backup Ben Tucker in the win over North Harford. QB Mickey Bowen has played well for Fallston, but the Cougars lost two straight after a 2-0 start and need to reduce their mistakes.

Fallston @ Boys' Latin

WHEN -- Saturday, 11 a.m.

OUTLOOK -- This is another good out-of-conference test for the Cougars, who've had a tough schedule this season. The Fallston offense looked good in recent games, compiling eight goals in recent wins over Eastern Tech and North Harford. Boys' Latin was second in the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association B Conference Division II as of last week.
