Michael Brian Bender, a retired electronics worker and Army veteran, died of liver disease Wednesday at Stella Maris Hospice in Timonium. The Cockeysville resident was 50.

Born in Baltimore and raised in Baltimore Highlands, he was a 1974 Lansdowne High School graduate. He served in the Army in South Korea, where he was a communications equipment repairman.

Mr. Bender worked on circuit boards at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory, among other employers. He last worked at Teledyne Electronics and Communications in Nashua, N.H., and had been on medical disability since 2004.

He was a member of American Legion Post 195 and followed the Orioles and the Ravens.

Services will be private.

Survivors include his wife of five years, the former Elizabeth Marie Benoit; two brothers, Ronald Bender of Catonsville and Wayne Bender of Maryland; and a sister, Phyllis S. Hoffman of Centreville.
