Participate in a poetry reading by Jane Hirshfield at 5 p.m. Sunday. Writer of the collection Given Sugar, Given Salt, a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award and a winner of the Poetry Center Book Award, Hirshfield will also converse with the audience. During the reading, children of listeners can go on a nature walk and write poetry. After the reading, there will be a reception.

The reading is in the Howard County Conservancy's "green" auditorium at 10520 Old Frederick Road, Woodstock. There is no fee, but reservations are required. Call 410-772-4568 or go to hocopolitso.org.
