October arrives after midnight tonight. Average highs drop from 73 to 62 degrees. The lows fall into the 30s. Are you ready for snow? October has seen Baltimore's earliest measureable amounts, including the 0.3-inch surprise on Oct. 10, 1979, that forced postponement of Game 1 of the World Series at Memorial Stadium, between the Pirates and the Orioles. We've had traces of snow in October six times, and measureable amounts three times since 1883. The deepest was 2.4 inches on Oct. 30, 1925.
