Lately, the stroll to ward the Ravens game has become more appetizing. The aromas of grilled meats, chicken wings, hot dogs and fries wash over football fans as they stream along Ravenswalk, the concourse that runs between Oriole Park at Cam den Yards and M&T Bank Stadium.

This fall, the walkway is lined with stands selling food and drink from six area restaurants. Ten stands open three hours before kickoff of Ravens home games and continue limited service dur ing the games. A 9-foot-by-12-foot television screen set up in the middle of the action shows the Ravens and other NFL games. Even fans without Ravens tickets have joined in the pre-game feed, said Kevin Keeney, district manag er for Aramark, the stadium con cessionaire that is running the operation.

Most of the fare cannot be car ried into the stadium; it must be eaten on the spot or taken home. At a recent Ravens home game, I walked the walk and ate the goods. The service at all stands was quick, with no waiting.

Best Bite

The $9 steak sandwich --at the Oregon Grille stand. Ex tremely tender beef grilled and served with roasted red pepper, chipotle sauce and a caramelized onion on grilled bread. Not as pretty as the stand's $9 crab-cake martini, but more football-friendly.

Best Bargain

The $5 Italian sausage --at the Boardwalk Fries stand. A sat isfying sausage with good bite and heft.

Also tasted

The $4 cup of Broadwalk fries --The fries were crisp and crunchy, and the price is not bad by stadium standards.

The $6 crusty three-rib sampler --at Famous Dave's barbecue stand. The ribs were well-smoked but a tad sugary.

The $7 bourbon-flavored chicken wings --at the Greene Turtle stand. The opera tion offered seven wings that were warm, saucy and sweet.

The $5 12-ounce drafts of Guinness --at a beverage stand. An honest brew, well-poured. It was more expensive than the 24-ounce $5 cans of mainstream American beers, but worth it.
