Matchups To Watch

Ravens Weekend

September 21, 2007|By MIKE PRESTON

ADRIAN WILSON, ARIZONA SS HT: 6-3 WT: 230 YEAR: 7 VS.

TODD HEAP, RAVENS TE HT: 6-5 WT: 252 YEAR: 7

Wilson, Arizona's strong safety, has established himself as one of the hardest hitters in the league. He'll match up with the Ravens tight end on several third-down occasions. Heap has taken some wicked shots over the years, and he won't get any breaks Sunday. Wilson loves to blitz, and the Ravens have to locate him on the field. Wilson will be looking for Heap, who has the best hands on the team. Both are Pro Bowl players.

LEVI BROWN, ARIZONA OT HT: 6-5; WT: 322; YEAR: R

DWAN EDWARDS, RAVENS DT HT: 6-3; WT: 315; YEAR: 4

Both are inexperienced as starters, though Edwards is in his fourth year in the league. Brown, a rookie, was one of the highest-rated tackles coming out of the draft. His forte is run blocking, and he has good power and a good initial burst. He also has good bend in his knees and is athletic. Edwards is expected to start in place of Trevor Pryce. He has played well at times, but the Ravens would like to see more consistency. The talent is there, so Edwards could have a big game Sunday.

EDGE: EDWARDS

ANQUAN BOLDIN, ARIZONA WR HT: 6-1; WT: 217; YEAR: 5

LARRY FITZGERALD ARIZONA WR HT: 6-3; WT: 226; YEAR: 4 VS

CHRIS MCALISTER RAVENS CB HT: 6-1; WT: 206; YEAR: 9

SAMARI ROLLE RAVENS CB HT: 6-0; WT: 175; YEAR: 10

The Cardinals will take shots downfield, especially after the Ravens had trouble defending the pass in the fourth quarter against the New York Jets. Fitzgerald has great hands, and Boldin is a tough competitor. The Ravens won't take this duo lightly. McAlister played well Sunday, but Rolle had problems. He backed off late in the game but plays better when he presses at the line of scrimmage. If the Cardinals get time to pass, these receivers can cause problems for the Ravens.

EDGE: EVEN
