Girls Rule

The lowdown -- Monday, the Sidebar Tavern hosts Girls Rock Girls Rule Fest. The female-centric lineup includes Odd Girl Out, Grandma's Mini, Emiko, Loki the Grump, RewBee and headliner G Spot. Expect some driving punk rock delivered with plenty of moxie.

St.STS9 at Sonar

The lowdown -- West Coast electro-jammers Sound Tribe Sector 9 come to Sonar's main stage Saturday. The band's sometimes-spacy grooves are anchored by break-beat rhythms and a cohesive percussion section. Its fan base is loyal and follows the band across the country, and the group's vibrant lighting display and tight musicianship make for a solid live show.

WZT Hearts' CD release

The lowdown -- Four-piece experimental ambient group WZT Hearts has a new album out called Threads Rope Spell Making Your Bones. Saturday is the official CD release party at the recently reopened Talking Head.
