Quarterback

B

The Ravens didn't ask Kyle Boller to win the game for them, and he played well within the conservative scheme. He connected on short passes and threw the ball away instead of trying to force it. He struggled with the deep ball, but overall it was an impressive performance.

Running backs

B+

Willis McGahee had 97 yards on 26 carries and a 2-yard touchdown reception. He ran well but missed several cutback lanes. With time, he should be able to find them.

Offensive line

C+

Overall, it was a much-improved effort from a week ago. Boller was pressured a few times, but the Ravens didn't give up a sack. It's nice to see them actually run a stretch play to the outside and off the perimeter. Left tackle Adam Terry needs a calculator to stop jumping offsides.

Receivers

B

Derrick Mason had eight catches for 54 yards and tight end Todd Heap had seven for 76. Heap got open more often yesterday compared to a week ago because he didn't have to help the offensive tackle with a chip block to slow the pass rush. The Ravens ran some nice pick plays to the outside.

Defensive line

B

The Ravens held the Jets to 69 rushing yards and dominated the interior lines. New York running back Thomas Jones had a couple of decent runs, but he got a lot of the yards on his own. Four Ravens linemen had three tackles each.

Linebackers

B

Bart Scott started slowly but got better as the game went on. Fellow inside linebacker Ray Lewis was steady and finished with seven tackles, the same as Scott. Terrell Suggs didn't have a sack but provided a lot of pressure, and fellow outside linebacker Jarret Johnson was relentless in pursuit.

Secondary

C

This group played well until the fourth quarter, and then it looked lost. Backup safety Gerome Sapp and cornerback Corey Ivy struggled, and Ivy needs to tackle better instead of holding hands. Safety Ed Reed needs to do a better job of wrapping up instead of trying to take someone's head off.

Special teams

A

Punter Sam Koch averaged 47.5 yards on six punts, including a long of 62 yards. He had two touchbacks and one inside the 20. Matt Stover converted on two of three field-goal tries. Yamon Figurs returned two kickoffs for 89 yards, including a 61-yarder. The Jets averaged only 18 yards on kickoff returns.
