Wine time

The lowdown -- Sample the goods from 18 area wineries at this weekend's Maryland Wine Festival. Wine education seminars, onstage entertainment and guided tours of the Carroll County Farm Museum, as well as food and arts and crafts vendors, will be available.

If you go -- The festival is 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday and noon-6 p.m. Sunday at the Carroll County Farm Museum, 500 S. Center St., Westminster. Ottobar anniversary

The lowdown -- Celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Ottobar with the Glenmont Popes, a local rock band with a hard garage-rock and metal style. Also performing are the Fishnet Stalkers, the Needles and Blondsai and J. Roddy Walston and the Business.

The lowdown -- The Payola Reserve, a band with a sound that blends Radiohead with a classic folk style, will perform tomorrow at the Sidebar Tavern's monthly Reaction Dance Party. This dance party features '60s and '60s-inspired music.
