Karri Ellen Johnson scored twice in the first half off corners to power fifth-ranked Broadneck past ninth-ranked North Carroll, 5-2, in field hockey yesterday.

"Our offense was moving the ball really well," Broadneck coach Jen Parks said. "We did a good job of maintaining tempo because North Carroll is a really tough team."

Lindsay Jackson gave Broadneck a 1-0 lead 1:50 into the game. The Bruins (1-0) went up 2-0 before trading goals with the Panthers (2-1) before the half.

Each team had 15 shots and Broadneck had 11 corners to North Carroll's seven.

Bruins goalies Maddie Koch and Hillary Handelsman combined for 13 saves and North Carroll's Caitlin Bach and Lauren Beeker totaled 10.

No. 11 Glenelg 4, Towson 2 -- The visiting Gladiators (1-3) held off a late rally by the Generals to earn their first win of the season. Glenelg led 3-0 early in the second half before Towson scored twice to pull within one. Gladiators' Kristy Black scored the insurance goal to seal the win. Courtney Knill made five saves for Glenelg, which rebounded from a 3-2 loss to Good Counsel at this weekend's South River tournament.
