Helen E. Staylor, 87, proofreader

Helen E. Staylor, a retired proofreader and former Reisterstown resident, died of dementia Thursday at her daughter's farm in Spring Grove, Pa. She was 87.

Helen E. Runge was born and raised in Towson and graduated from Notre Dame Preparatory School. During the 1960s and early 1970s, she worked as a proofreader for Fidelity & Deposit Co. of Maryland.

Since 1978, she had lived at Rutledge Farm, where she enjoyed reading and completing crossword puzzles.

Mrs. Staylor was a former communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church in Govans. She was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Spring Grove.

Her husband of 46 years, William W. Staylor, a retired Baltimore police officer, died in 1988.

Services are private.

Surviving are two daughters, Jacquelyn L. Rutledge of Spring Grove and Judith L. Ingold of Bel Air; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
