(1918-2007) LUTHER GRAND BOND, Sr., first son of the late James Emory and Isabella Grand Bond died in his home at 65 Canal Street, Millbury, MA, on September 3, 2007. Born in Baltimore, MD, on January 30, 1918, Luther Bond was 89 years old and the second child in a family of ten. He lived most of his life, proudly, in his hometown of Baltimore, MD. He married his sweetheart, Joy Louise Mitchell, daughter of Rev. and Mrs. Albert J. Mitchell of 1836 McCulloh Street on August 31, 1941; however, married life was interrupted when he was drafted into the U.S. Army to fight for his country during WWII. The union of Luther and Joy was blessed with three children, Luther Grand Bond, Jr., (deceased), Louis Grand Bond and Monica Phillips Bond. Luther is predeceased by his sisters, Mrs. Isabella Bond Byrd, Mrs. Ruby Bond Rivers and Mrs. Ruth Bond Mickens and his brother, James Emory Bond, II. He is survived by his four sisters, Mrs. Mandy Bond Bynum, Mrs. Pearl Bond Dean, Ms. Chloe Bond and Mrs. Edith Bond Mercer and one brother, Frank Bond all residing in Maryland. He is also survived by six grandchildren; Melanie Bond Johnson and her husband Jerry Johnson, Judith, Allyson, Meredith and Jordan Bond, Yolanda Bond Thompson and her husband Paul Thompson and great-grandchildren, Bernadette, Jerry Jr., Hilton, Elena, Brittany, Bethany and Mallory as well as a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, his daughter-in-law, Amelia Parker Bond, his best friend, Mr. Archie Smothers and his wife Cynthia and his god child, Ms. Mandy Isabella Bynum, and Robert E. Layne who was like a son to him. His devoted children, Monica Phillips Bond, Louis, G. Bond and Robert E. Layne mourn his passing greatly, will forever miss him. Funeral services will be at Milford Mill United Methodist Church, 915 Milford Mill Road, Pikesville, MD, 21208. Calling hours, September 8, 2007, 9:30 A.M. Service at 11 .M. Interment will be at Arbutus Memorial park followed by a collation at Milford Mill United Methodist Church. Floral expressions may be sent directly to the church.
