Annapolis man, 20, is charged in killing

September 04, 2007|By Lynn Anderson

Annapolis police charged a man with first-degree murder and assault yesterday in the shooting death of another man Sunday night.

Police arrested Anthony N. Jackson, 20, about 4:30 a.m. yesterday, six hours after Andre E. Johnson, 18, was shot in the first block of Marcs Court. Johnson was taken to Anne Arundel Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Jackson, of the first block of Parole St. in Annapolis, was being held last night pending a bail hearing scheduled for today.

The shooting death brings Annapolis' homicide count for the year to seven, police said. The previous homicide in the county occurred July 21, also on Marcs Court. Police made an arrest in that case and said yesterday that there is no known link between the two cases.
