Devil Rays update

The Devil Rays beat the New York Yankees, 8-2, at Yankee Stadium yesterday to take the three-game series and move within four games of the Orioles for fourth place in the American League East. Tampa Bay has won just five of 15 games against the Orioles this season but swept them in a three-game series last week at Camden Yards. First baseman Carlos Pena hit his 34th home run of the season yesterday, tying current Oriole Aubrey Huff and Jose Canseco for the most homers in a single season in franchise history. Rookie right fielder Delmon Young has a 10-game hitting streak and is 19-for-44 (.432) during that span. It is his fifth hitting streak of 10 or more games this season, matching the Seattle Mariners' Ichiro Suzuki (2001) for most 10-game hitting streaks by a rookie in the past 50 years. The Devil Rays have scored 88 runs in their past 10 games.
