Man is fatally shot in city's Southwest

Baltimore police found a man early yesterday lying in the rear of a home in Southwest Baltimore, suffering from at least one gunshot wound. He died later at a hospital.

It was the city's 206th homicide, compared with 178 during the same period last year, police said.

As of yesterday, 22 people, including two women, have been killed in the city this month, police said. Their average age was 25.

Yesterday's victim, whose identity was not released, was shot in the head about 2:45 a.m. in the 400 block of S. Payson St., police said. He was pronounced dead at 3:15 a.m. at Maryland Shock Trauma Center, police said.

Metro Crime Stoppers at 410-276-8888 is offering a reward of up to $2,000 for information leading to an arrest and an indictment in the killing.
