Devil Rays update

Before yesterday's 5-4 loss to the Chicago White Sox, Tampa Bay had won three in a row for the first time since June 9-12. Devil Rays hitters have struck out 1,035 times, the most in the American League. At their current pace, they'll break the AL record, held by the 1999 Detroit Tigers at 1,268. But on the positive side of the ledger, Tampa Bay pitchers lead the AL with 949 strikeouts and could break the team record of 1,055, set in 1999. Hammel will be making his eighth start since he was called up from Triple-A Durham on June 11. He hasn't won in 16 major league starts. His only victory this year came in relief June 18. In his past four games, he's allowed 20 runs and 30 hits in 16 innings. Kazmir struck out 13 in his last start, against the Oakland Athletics. Carl Crawford is hitting .396 this month. The Orioles are 10-2 against Tampa Bay this season.
