Looking for a high-end sectional with an exotic mixture of fabrics and textures? Or a one-of-a-kind antique Chinese chest? You'll find that and more at Arhaus Furniture, which just opened its first Maryland location in super-chic Harbor East. In about 16,000 square feet of space, Arhaus manages to seamlessly meld a variety of themes and moods -- in a way that is visually breathtaking.

The store has an international feel -- Indonesian masks hang on the wall; many dining tables are made in Italy; glass is blown at a factory in Mexico. But 60 percent of the furniture is American-made, says Gary Babcock, vice president of merchandising and design for Arhaus, which has locations in 12 other states, including Virginia.

"We believe in a lot of natural products," says Babcock, who calls the furniture "transitional" -- in between traditional and modern, with an emphasis on antiques. "Real woods and metals and glass. There's no Formica and laminates here."
