Highlights of the 2007-08 Maryland men's basketball schedule, which was released yesterday, include early games against Illinois and Virginia Commonwealth and a January trip to face Charlotte.

The Terps will open regular-season play at Comcast Center at 8 p.m. on Nov. 11 against North Florida in the O'Reilly Auto Parts College Basketball Experience Classic. Tulsa and Hampton will play in the first game.

The winner of the College Park regional will advance to Kansas City, Mo., for the championship rounds of the tournament Nov. 19-20. Michigan State and UCLA, each of which were in the NCAA tournament last season, join the Terps and Missouri as regional hosts of the 16-team tournament.

Maryland plays host to Illinois on Nov. 28 in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge, one year after the Terps defeated the Illini in Champaign, Ill. Maryland then will face VCU - which advanced to the second round of the NCAA tournament last season before losing to third-seeded Pittsburgh - at Verizon Center on Dec. 2 in the annual BB&T Classic.

The Terrapins will open their Atlantic Coast Conference schedule at home Dec. 9 against Boston College.

In its 16-game ACC schedule, Maryland has home-and-home matchups with Boston College, Duke, Virginia, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest.

In home conference games, the Terps also will play Clemson, Florida State and North Carolina State. Maryland's other regular-season ACC road games will be against Georgia Tech, Miami and North Carolina.
