Western District police officers responding to shots fired yesterday afternoon on a street a few blocks from the police station found a teenage boy bleeding from at least one gunshot wound. The victim died a short time later at Maryland Shock Trauma Center.
The youth's name was being withheld pending notification of his family, police said.
No arrest had been made, and homicide detectives did not know of a motive.
The death brings to 201 the number of homicides in the city this year as of yesterday, compared with 176 for the corresponding period last year, police reported.
