The Annapolis Business Association and the city of Annapolis will present the eighth annual TasteBuds, a culinary event to raise funds for the hanging flower baskets and container gardens that adorn downtown Annapolis.
TasteBuds will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Oct. 30 at the Westin Annapolis Hotel, 100 Westgate Circle. Tickets go on sale Sept. 14.
Maritime Museum benefit set for Sept. 15
The Boatyard Bar and Grill will host its annual Boatyard Beach Party to benefit the Annapolis Maritime Museum from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sept. 15 on the museum's beach, 723 Second St., Eastport.
Last year's beach party raised $50,000 toward the funds needed to rebuild the McNasby building at the museum. Tickets are $50.

Life Cancer Gala raises $450,000
The recent 26th annual Celebration of Life Cancer Gala raised over $450,000 for the Calvert County Unit of the America Cancer Society.
It was the gala's largest collection to date.
All proceeds contribute to research, education and patient services in the fight against cancer.
Two hired with Crosby Marketing
Crosby Marketing Communications has hired Gillian Pommerehn as the director of public relations and Dharma Pachner as a senior interactive art director.
Pommerehn will lead the company in developing public relations campaigns.
Pachner will develop and design Web sites, interactive advertising campaigns and multimedia presentations.
Businesswomen's group holds meeting
The Maryland Capital chapter of American Business Women's Association will hold its monthly membership meeting from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Sept. 12 at the Sheraton Barcel?, 173 Jennifer Road, Annapolis.
Highlights of the meeting include the approval of the 2007-2008 budget, introduction of committee leaders and teams and the awarding of the chapter's Outright Grant.
The cost is $28 for members with reservations by Sept. 6; $35 at the door and for nonmembers.
Tree planting at Camp Letts Tuesday
Bartlett Tree Experts will hold a ceremonial tree planting at 11 a.m. Tuesday at YMCA Camp Letts in Edgewater.
The event is part of an international effort spanning four countries to promote healthy trees and communities.
Bartlett is celebrating its 100th anniversary of tree and shrub services.
Camp Letts is also celebrating is 100th anniversary.
Riverfest accepting vendor applications
Laurel Riverfest organizers are accepting applications from vendors and entertainers to participate in the 13th annual event.
First-time applicants must send either representative samples of their merchandise or photos/images of their merchandise.
Applications must received by Sept. 28.
Riverfest will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 13 in Riverfront Park and on the river walk along the Patuxent River.
