Baltimore police released the names yesterday of a man who was fatally shot Wednesday evening in West Baltimore and of a woman who was found fatally stabbed in a Brooklyn home Thursday.

Agent Donny Moses, a police spokesman, said that officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 700 block of Brune St., about 8:20 p.m. Wednesday.

Officers found Frederick Moore, 27, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was also found to be holding several small plastic bags of suspected crack cocaine in his mouth and an unspecified amount of cash in one of his pockets, Moses said.

Detectives do not have a suspect and know of no motive in the killing, Moses said.

Officer Nicole Monroe, a police spokeswoman, identified Thursday's stabbing victim as Karen Kutchey, 51.

A mail carrier discovered the woman, who had been stabbed several times, at a house in the 4000 block of Fifth St. in the city's Brooklyn neighborhood.

The killings were the 197th and 198th of this year. Last year at this time, police said, 171 people had been killed.
