Harford man charged in 3 robberies in 6 hours

A Harford County man has been charged with robbing three people within six hours on the same day.

About 5 p.m. Tuesday, a woman leaving an Aldi grocery store on Pulaski Highway in Edgewood was assaulted and robbed, state police in Bel Air said. At 6:30 p.m., a woman using the Bank of America ATM in the 1000 block of Joppa Road in Joppa was assaulted and robbed, said Sgt. Christina R. Presberry of the sheriff's office. That woman told deputies that her attacker drove off in a dark-colored car with a loud muffler.

About 11 p.m., a person using the Aberdeen Proving Ground Credit Union ATM in the 1300 block of Pulaski Highway was robbed, state police said. Moments later, a sheriff's deputy spotted a suspicious car stopped at Pulaski Highway and Mountain Road and arrested the driver.

Charged with multiple counts of armed robbery and assault and held on $200,000 bond is Henry Emil Blische, 45, of the 500 block of Trimble Road in Joppa.

A bail review hearing is set for today.

Man, 18, charged in 2 fires

An 18-year-old Taneytown man was arrested Tuesday night in connection with two fires that destroyed a shed and bales of hay in Taneytown recently, Deputy State Fire Marshal W. Faron Taylor said yesterday.

George M. Artz was charged with three counts of malicious burning in an Aug. 2 incident and with malicious burning and reckless endangerment in a fire set three days earlier, court records show.

Artz is charged with igniting debris in a vacant Taneytown building during the night of July 30-31, Taylor said. Authorities also charged him with igniting 150 bales of hay at midnight Aug. 2 in the 3200 block of Harney Road.
