Medical insurance is available for long trip to Europe

Q&A

I'm going to Europe for six months. Is there any travel insurance I can obtain for that long?

Before looking for travel medical insurance, call your current provider and ask what you're covered for when traveling overseas. It's possible you may not need to purchase additional insurance.

However, if you don't have coverage or want to make sure you are covered for such situations as a trip interruption or emergency evacuation, you can buy insurance for up to three years depending on which company you choose.

Companies such as QuoteWright (quote wright.com), InsureMyTrip (insuremy trip.com) and AIG Travel Guard (travel guard.com) offer plans that can cover hospitalization, outpatient treatment, emergency dental care and natural disasters.

The cost is determined by your age, length of vacation stay, the amount of coverage you purchase and the deductible you're willing to pay.
