Free immunization offered to children

The Anne Arundel County Department of Health is offering free immunizations for county children by appointment and at scheduled walk-in clinics.

Parents must show proof that their children have received all primary immunizations before to attending school.

The following walk-in clinics are available this month:

Parole Health Center, 1950 Drew St: Mondays and from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and Wednesdays from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. 410-222-7247.

Odenton Health Center, 1370 Odenton Road: Tuesdays from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. 410-222-6660.

Glen Burnie Health Center, 416 A Street, SW: Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m. 410-222-6633.

Required school vaccines, including diphtheria-tetanus-pertussis (DTP/Dtap), polio, hepatitis B, measles-mumps-rubella (MMR), haemophilus-influenza (Hib) and varicella (chickenpox), are available at Department of Health clinics.

The immunizations are free, though a donation of $10 is appreciated. Parents must bring a copy of their child's current immunization record to the clinic.

Bloodmobile rolls to a site near you

Anne Arundel Medical Center is rolling out a bloodmobile to improve blood supplies for the region and provide quick and convenient donation opportunities.

The blood bus will host blood drives throughout the region. Donors can expect to spend about 30 minutes from the time they begin their interview until they are done giving.

The AAMC donor bus will be at the following locations:

Today, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Anne Arundel Gastroenterology Associates, 820 Bestgate Road, Annapolis.

Tomorrow, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., 888 Bestgate Road office building, Annapolis.

Friday, 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., Woodland Beach Volunteer Fire Department, 529 Londontown Road, Edgewater.

Monday, 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., South River Shopping Center, Mitchell's Chance Road, Edgewater.

Tuesday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., YWCA, 1517 Ritchie Highway, Arnold.
