Cecil College to hold career session

Cecil College will hold a free College Information and Career Advising Session from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Elkton Station, 107 Railroad Ave.

Advisers from the college's credit and noncredit programs will talk to prospective students about training programs, workplace readiness classes, lifelong learning resources and financial aid.

Edgewood High plans reunion weekend

The Edgewood High School Class of 1977 will hold a 30-year reunion weekend Aug. 17 to Aug. 19.

The weekend starts with an evening mixer Aug. 17 at Mountain Branch Grille, Route 152, Joppa.

The reunion will be from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Aug. 18 at Mountain Branch Grille.

A picnic will be held Aug. 19 at Friends Park in Forest Hill.

All 1977 graduates and teachers, and friends from 1976 and 1978 are invited.

Series provides tips to caregivers

Harford Community College will present a Family Caregiving Series from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 24 at Edgewood Hall on the Bel Air campus.

The daylong series covers topics including legal and financial issues, Alzheimer's or dementia care, and HIV/AIDS care.

The cost is $39.

Students may also attend a specific topic area at a reduced charge of $15 per session.

Sessions are:

Legal and financial issues: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. For those who will be responsible for handling legal and financial matters for an aging family member or someone with a debilitating illness.

Alzheimer's or dementia care: 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Caregivers can learn to create a plan to get through the day and provide for their patients.

HIV/AIDS Care: 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. Caregivers for people with HIV or AIDS can learn to deal with issues specific to the illness.

HCC to offer ESL lessons on Aug. 24

Harford Community College will offer English as a Second Language advising session at 10 a.m. Aug. 24 at Aberdeen Community Center.

ESL is for foreign-born adults 16 or older who would like to improve English communication skills, including listening, speaking, reading and writing.

HCC to be awarded bay certification

Harford Community College has been "Bay Wise Certified," demonstrating the college's proactive position in protecting the environment and the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries.

The certification required HCC to obtain a minimum of 36 points based on how the college cared for the campus grounds. The college obtained 59 points.

The college will be awarded a plaque identifying it as "Bay Wise Certified."
