MCNAIR TAKES OFF

Quarterback Steve McNair looked sharp during an 11-on-11 drill yesterday morning. On the first play, McNair found tight end Todd Heap behind strong safety Dawan Landry for a 25-yard touchdown pass. Later, McNair sent a 4-yard touchdown pass into the hands of tight end Daniel Wilcox.

BIGGEST CHEERS

Fans erupted after wide receiver Demetrius Williams leaped high into the air over cornerback Willie Gaston to catch a touchdown pass from rookie quarterback Troy Smith. Williams is quickly becoming a crowd favorite.

SAPP GETS HIS

A day after deflecting a pass that led to an interception by Jamaine Winborne, safety Gerome Sapp recorded his own interception during a seven-on-seven, two-minute drill. Sapp stepped in front of Kyle Boller's pass intended for wide receiver Damien Linson.

QUOTABLE

"I guess they didn't want me to do it." - Running back Willis McGahee, who was left behind by the other running backs before he completed the blocking drill. McGahee hit and lifted a weighted dummy anyway before rejoining his teammates.

INJURIES

Offensive tackle Jonathan Ogden (turf toe), linebackers Mike Smith (shoulder surgery) and Dan Cody (knee surgery), fullback Justin Green (knee surgery) and offensive tackle Michael Kracalik (sprained ankle) are on the physically-unable-to-perform list and did not practice. Defensive tackle Kelly Gregg (right thigh bruise) and linebacker Antwan Barnes (right ankle sprain) did not practice, while guard Ben Grubbs (right knee sprain) was limited to individual drills. Tight end Quinn Sypniewski (stomach flu) and rookie fullback Le'Ron McClain (leg cramps) returned to practice.
