WIMBLEDON, England -- It became official yesterday that Wimbledon's effect on Venus Williams qualifies as recuperative if not downright medicinal.

Williams, seeded No. 23, hadn't played extremely well this year and has struggled with some injuries. But, at Wimbledon she takes her game to another level.
