BETHESDA -- Stuart Appleby has a pretty close perspective on the specter of Tiger Woods, having played nearly his entire career in the overpowering shadow of the world's best golfer while being neighbors and practice buddies with Woods back home in Florida.
So yesterday, when Appleby was asked after taking a share of the second-round lead in the inaugural AT&T National at Congressional Country Club whether it is impossible to ignore Woods' presence at any tournament - especially one he is hosting - the 36-year-old Australian was typically insightful.
