Business women hold July meeting

The Maryland Capital Chapter of the American Business Women's Association will hold its July meeting from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. July 11 at the Sheraton Hotel Annapolis, 173 Jennifer Road.

The meeting will feature the DVD premiere of the Mardi Gras Fashion Show, the Induction Ceremony for the 2007-2008 officers, recognition of current officers, and the chapter's annual Outright College Grant will be awarded.

The cost is $28 for members; $35 for guests. Dinner included.

The Mardi Gras Fashion Show DVD will be available for $10 per copy.

Tech Council plans Bay Tech Expo

The Anne Arundel Tech Council is accepting registration for the third annual Comcast BBQ on the Bay Tech Expo.

The Expo will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. July 12 at the Chesapeake Bay Foundation in Annapolis.

The cost is $50 for members; $65 for nonmembers; and $70 at the door.

The cost includes barbeque, and beer and wine tastings.

West County sets Business Expo

Registration is open for the West Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce's third annual Tour West County Business Expo.

The expo will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. July 17 at the Conference Center at the Maritime Institute, 692 Maritime Blvd., Linthicum Heights.

New Geico office in Annapolis to open

The grand opening of Geico's new Annapolis office will be held at 11 a.m. July 27.

Geico's NASCAR show car will be on display during the grand opening. There will be giveaways, special guests and free refreshments.

The office is located at 2563 Forest Drive.

Sailing school offers `Transforming Day'

Womanship Inc., a sailing and powerboat school for women, will offer "A Transforming Day on the Bay."

Participants can choose to visit historic Annapolis, handle the sails or navigate the boat's course.

Womanship offers other training programs for couples, eighth graders and on sailing safety.

Charter yacht companies merge

Nautical Destinations and Pintail Yachts merged to become one entity that specializes in cruising and entertaining on the Chesapeake Bay.

Nautical Destinations, a yacht charter company, will focus on corporate clients and the meeting and convention industry.

Army Corps seeks BRAC contractors

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers looks for contractors to support BRAC projects.

BRAC projects include the Defense Information System Agency headquarters, the Media and Publication Activities facility, and the Defense Security Clearance Activities.

Contractors interested in working with the Corps should register with the Central Contractor Registration database at www.ccr.gov, visit Web sites such as Federal Business Opportunities at www.fedbizopps.gov, target solicitations best suited to their capabilities and follow the steps listed in the solicitation to compete for an award.
