Everyone's invited to a 40th birthday party for Columbia. Join the festivities tomorrow-Sunday at the old-fashioned Columbia City Fair with music, food and activities for the whole family, with carnival rides, arts and crafts, magic shows, entertainment from children's group DinoRock and more. There will be a parade and lakefront fireworks tomorrow, and birthday cake and a "Happy Birthday" sing-along for Columbia on Sunday.

COMPETITION HUNKA-HUNKA ELVIS

Elvis may have left the building, but his rock 'n' roll legacy lives on with "The Promised Land -- Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest," taking place Saturday at Prince George's County Stadium. Hosted by the Bowie Baysox baseball team, this event features an Elvis Look-Alike Contest, an Elvis Tribute Show and a live Elvis Tribute Artist Contest. The winner of the tribute contest will earn a slot in the Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist qualifying rounds in Memphis, Tenn., during the city's Elvis Week 2007.

PERFORMANCE THE ARTS IN TOWSON

Towson University is hosting a monthlong Summer Performing Arts series that features a wide-ranging lineup of acts, including jazz, comedy, Broadway and famous-artist tribute acts. The series kicks off tomorrow with internationally renowned jazz pianist Cyrus Chestnut at 7:30 p.m. (See story on Page 6.) The series will feature tributes to Elvis Presley and Bing Crosby, as well as a performance by eight youth tap dancers and more.

.................... The Summer Performing Arts Series begins tomorrow and continues through July 22. All performances will be held at Towson University, Stephens Hall Theatre, 800 York Road, Towson. Tickets are $10-$36. Call 410-704-2787.
