BEWARE THE BIRDS

While it's a chilling idea to show Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds outside while birds may be flying above, the American Visionary Art Museum will be doing just that tonight as part of its Flicks From the Hill outdoor film series. Take a picnic dinner, and sit out on a blanket while enjoying this cinematic classic. The museum will be open and free from 5 p.m.- 9 p.m., and the film starts at 9 p.m.

For an inside look at daily live in Afghanistan, check out the photography exhibit Portrait of a People: An Intimate Look at Life in Afghanistan at the Enoch Pratt Free Library's Central Library. Photos by Dr. Nasratullah Ansari, an Afghanistan-based physician, will be on display.

CHILDREN'S CONCERTS

Grammy-winning children's entertainers Cathy Fink and Marcy Marxer will perform three concerts at Anne Arundel County Libraries this week. Their songs educate kids about history, instruments, conflict resolution and more, and they're fun for the family to enjoy together.

The duo will perform Monday at the North County Area Branch, 1010 Eastway in Glen Burnie. The second concert is Tuesday at the Crofton Branch, 1681 Riedel Road in Crofton and the third is July 5 at the Broadneck Branch, 1275 Green Holly Drive in Annapolis. ANNAPOLIS ARTS

Get outside and enjoy the summer weather. At the First Sunday Arts Festival, there will be live music, sidewalk dining, street performers, vendors and more. The Annapolis Junction Big Band will perform swing classics from noon to 3 p.m., and the Tom Lagana Trio, a modern jazz group, will play from 3:30 p.m.-4:45 p.m.
