The money, power and glory of "The Show" might be some distance away for players in the Single-A New York-Penn League, but for fans of the Aberdeen IronBirds, everything's closer at Ripken Stadium - the athletes, the dust and sound of the game. It's a shorter wait for autographs, too, and sometimes they even let fans stroll onto the field. Hall of Famer Cal Ripken Jr. owns the team, and even when he's not there to throw out a ceremonial first pitch, his face smiles consistently in an advertisement at the front rail.
