Contracts

TeleCommunication Systems Inc. announced that the Annapolis-based company was awarded a $1.1 million contract to provide satellite system components to the Defense Communications and Army Transmission System at Fort Monmouth, N.J.

Awards

Martin P. Brunk, a managing director with RSM McGladrey's mid-Atlantic Economic Unit, received the 2007 Public Service Award presented by the Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants. For the past eight years , Brunk has been actively involved with the Maryland Food Bank, serving as treasurer, vice president and, currently, as board chair.

New clients

Merkle, a Lanham-based database marketing firm, was awarded a three-year contract by the National Jewish Medical and Research Center in Denver.

Opening

R2i.ntegrated a Baltimore-based digital marketing communications firm, opened an office in Falls Church, Va., to serve Washington and Northern Virginia.

Organizations

Timothy R. Troxell has been elected president of the Maryland Economic Development Association. He is executive director of the Hagerstown-Washington County Economic Development Commission.

The Maryland Bankers Association elected as chairman Gary N. Geisel, chairman and chief executive of Provident Bank of Maryland.

Magaly Rodriguez de Bittner was elected vice president of the Maryland Pharmacists Association. He is chairman of pharmacy practice and science at the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy.
