Some bits and pieces

Roch Around the Clock

Now that the Yankees have cut loose Josh Phelps, the Orioles most certainly are interested in reacquiring him. But they'd like to send him down to Triple-A Norfolk, and he'd have to clear waivers first.

If you're a fan of the Newark Bears and plan on attending an independent Atlantic League game, say hello to their center fielder, former Orioles first-round draft pick Keith Reed. And ask him whatever happened to Mike Paradis and Richard Stahl. And Josh Cenate, too.

If the Orioles are still infatuated with former Yankees, I'm sure Rick Dempsey would remind them of that 1976 trade.

BYU runner Kyle Perry was arrested and charged with aggravated assault last week in Provo, Utah, after getting out of his car and striking a pedestrian with a mop. The victim was crossing the street carrying mops and a bucket.

I'm waiting for a Cincinnati Bengal to be charged with carrying a concealed sponge.
