Police find body in burning car on parkway ramp

June 21, 2007|By Richard Irwin

Maryland State Police are investigating the cause of death of a person whose body was found in the trunk of a burning car yesterday on a Baltimore-Washington Parkway ramp in Linthicum.

About 6:30 p.m., a motorist called the state police and reported that a burgundy compact car parked on the ramp from southbound Route 295 onto Nursery Road was burning, said First Sgt. Russell Newell, a state police spokesman.

Newell said that after firefighters put out the fire, they opened the trunk and found the body.

Newell said police were working on "good leads" and declined to reveal the gender of the victim or the type of car in which it was found.

He said an autopsy by the state medical examiner's office would be performed today.
