JAZZED ABOUT MUSIC

Jazz pianist Larry Willis will perform at the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts on Sunday. Willis has performed with many jazz greats, including Dizzy Gillespie and Lee Morgan, playing on more than 300 records in his career. His versatile music style will please fans of rock and pop music as well as those interested in more worldly styles, such as African and Brazilian music.

MORE THAN SAND CASTLES

Spectators can expect to see a wide variety of sand sculptures Saturday at the 2007 City Sand event. The theme for this year is Beyond the Boardwalk: Favorite Summer Activities. In addition to watching the architects build the sculptures, spectators can vote for the People's Choice Award for their favorite sculpture. Winners will be announced at 4 p.m.

FROM BEHIND BARS

The Creative Alliance presents another installment of its "Views of Justice" film series tonight. Catch a screening of the 1998 documentary The Farm: Angola, USA, which won the Sundance Grand Jury Prize for Best Documentary and was nominated for an Oscar. The film depicts life in Louisiana's Angola Prison, mostly from the point of view of the inmates.

Model-airplane fans will join together at the third annual Airplanes of the World RC scale model fly-in Saturday. Admission is free for spectators. Raffles, food and drinks can be purchased, with some proceeds benefiting local charities.
