The Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Maryland and Delaware, Inc. offers homeowners tips on how to avoid foreclosure and telephone numbers of agencies that help.

Steps include figuring out your financial situation, finding ways to balance income and spending, communicating with your mortgage company, remaining in your property and seeking outside help.

Seminar to focus on building teams

RiverWest Marketing will offer a free seminar, "Building Powerful Teams," from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at its office, 647 Ridgely Ave., in Annapolis.

It will cover ways to encourage effective teamwork, improve internal communications, increase productivity and boost profits.

Riva restaurant to open Tuesday

California Tortilla will celebrate the opening of its new restaurant at the Festival at Riva shopping center in Annapolis on Tuesday with a free burrito and beverage to all customers from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

The first 10 people in line will get a free burrito every week for a year. The next 20 will win a free burrito every week for a month.

Laura Richards of Annapolis owns the restaurant, along with the California Tortilla in Bowie.

A "burrito-cutting" ceremony will be held at noon.

Fitness, aquatics center opens today

Big Vanilla Pasadena, a fitness and aquatics center, is celebrating its grand opening today with food, drinks and family activities.

The 120,000-square-foot center features a swimming pool, an outdoor sports complex, a playground, locker rooms and family changing rooms.

Big Vanilla Pasadena is at 26 Magothy Beach Road in Chesapeake Health Park.

Cafe opens in Severn Bank building

Cafe Matisse has opened in the Severn Bank building at Westgate Circle in Annapolis.

The cafe, inspired by the sidewalk cafes of Paris, offers indoor or outdoor seating and is billed a coffee house and wine bar with light fare.

Cafe Matisse opens at 7 a.m. Monday through Friday and at 8 a.m. on weekends.

Irish Festival to be held June 24

The Annapolis Irish Cultural Society and several boutiques on Maryland Avenue and State Circle will sponsor an Irish Festival on the streets starting at 10 a.m. June 24.

The festival will feature Irish dancers, bands and bagpipes.

Raffle tickets will be sold for a chance to win a trip to Ireland. The tickets are $10.

Ailing women can get houses cleaned

Spouses Cleaning Houses has joined with Cleaning for a Reason, a national nonprofit organization, to provide women in Anne Arundel County who are undergoing cancer treatment free or discounted professional cleaning services.

Traylor joins BankAnnapolis

Vadus Traylor has joined BankAnnapolis as vice president and branch manager of the Edgewater branch. She will be responsible for daily operations of the branch.

Traylor has worked in banking for more than 20 years. She lives in Edgewater.
