June 14, 2007

Helen M. Watkins, a retired human resources executive and former Annapolis resident, died June 3 of coronary-pulmonary disease at her Naples, Fla., home. She was 74.

Helen Marie Knapp was born in Middletown, N.Y., and raised in Baltimore. She was a graduate of Forest Park High School.

From 1971 to 1982, she was head of human resources for the Allegheny Pepsi-Cola Bottling Co. in Baltimore.

A Naples resident since 2005, she enjoyed collecting dolls, watching movies, cooking and gardening.

Services were held Tuesday in Naples.

Surviving are two daughters, April Arnold of Naples and Marie Frederick of Towson; three stepsons, Richard Watkins of Parkville, David Watkins of Edgewood, and Glen Watkins of Fort Myers, Fla.; two stepdaughters, Marsha Rain of Joppa and Debra Dowling of Fort Myers, Fla.; and four grandchildren. Her marriage to Richard Watkins ended in divorce.

FOR THE RECORD - An obituary published in yesterday's editions of The Sun incorrectly stated the age of Helen M. Watkins. She was 75. Also, a stepson's name was incorrectly spelled. He is Glenn Watkins. The Sun regrets the errors.
