Barely five hours after he graduated with his senior classmates, a 17-year-old Meade High school student was killed in a car crash yesterday.

William Henry Reynolds Jr., of 7404 Van Noy Loop at Fort Meade, was killed about 1 a.m. yesterday when he lost control of the 1993 Mercury Sable he was driving on Reece Road near Jacobs Road West on the Army post, according to a statement released by police.

As the car rounded a curve, it swerved off the road and hit a tree. Neighbors who heard the noise notified police, who said the crash appeared to be caused by excessive speed; drugs and alcohol did not appear to be involved. Reynolds was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
