Consider NBC's Age of Love, which starts

REALITY CHECK

June 09, 2007|By SARAH KICKLER KELBER

It's funny. When the big shows -- think American Idol, Survivor and so on -- are off the air for the summer, all the weird stuff comes out of the woodwork.

Consider NBC's Age of Love, which starts June 18. In this dating show, 30-year-old tennis player Mark Philippoussis plays bachelor to a number of 20-something "kittens" and 40-something "cougars." In theory, the show is supposed to explore whether age matters in love. But in reality (so to speak), it looks like it will be about trickery (Philippoussis isn't in on the concept at the beginning) and possibly humiliation (which group of women will make bigger fools out of themselves?).

No, thanks.
